Mass timber demonstration buildings are critical to demonstrate feasibility, break down barriers and raise market awareness. BuildX is currently developing a flagship mass timber project called “XLT” to promote the use of timber in construction projects in East Africa. The Fellow will be tasked with evaluating the concept, design Revit files of one of BuildX’s demonstration projects and come up with digital information that showcases the benefits of using mass timber as a building material related to the impact domains mentioned above. They will carry out desktop research and run simulations with software such as Autodesk CFD, generate carbon data with plugins such as Tally, create mass timber fire demonstration simulations, videos or graphics using applicable software and develop graphical outputs out of the compiled scientific data.
