The goal of this project is to support MASS Design Group’s post-occupancy building assessments with a focus on energy use and indoor health and comfort. The Fellow will be charged with coordination between partners and the MASS team on this ongoing portfolio of work, as well as supporting the data collection and analysis that holds the potential for long term impact for future projects and policies in Rwanda. Specifically, the Fellow will conduct energy simulations of existing buildings using EDGE and dynamic energy modeling through IES or Energy Plus to develop a reference database to compare design benchmarks to the actual operational energy of existing buildings. The Fellow will also support supervision of the installation and oversight of energy and environmental monitoring systems in selected buildings, and document methodology, analysis, trends, and lessons learned.
