The goal of this project is to assess the housing finance and home strengthening market in Nepal. The Fellow will conduct a market and cost study to determine the number of vulnerable homes and their typologies, the costs for quality/certified upgrades, and the financing needs, preferences and borrowing capacity for low-income households. The Fellow will also assess financing products for both new construction and renovation provided through government programs and private financial institutions to evaluate incremental housing products with a specific focus on home strengthening.
